Celebration of 77th Independence Day of India at Jakarta
The Embassy of India, Jakarta, celebrated the 77th Independence Day of India on 15th August, 2023 at India House, Jakarta with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The function witnessed participation by a large number of Indian Diaspora, Friends of India, school students and teachers, approximating to about 500 guests. Similar programs were organised at the Indian Consulates in Medan and Bali.
2. Mr. Sandeep Chakravorty, Ambassador of India to Indonesia and Timor Leste unfurled the National Flag at the India House, followed by singing of the National Anthem.
3. Ambassador, thereafter, read the address to the nation on the eve of Independence Day by Hon’ble Smt. Droupadi Murmu, President of India. Ambassador also addressed the Indian community and Friends of India in Indonesia assembled during the occasion. This was Ambassador Chakravorty’s first interaction with the Indian community after assuming charge as Ambassador.
4. The 77th Independence Day marked the conclusion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav events which had commenced on 12th March 2021.
5. During the celebrations Jawahar Lal Nehru Cultural Centre, Jakarta organized a cultural programme by children fromGandhi Memorial Intercontinental School, Beacon Academy, Singapore International School, Jakarta andRama Global School, Purwakarta. A photo exhibition of the AKAM events hosted by the Embassy during the past year was also on display.
