Holi Festival in Jakarta: A Celebration with Full of Happiness, Color and Cultural Heritage
JAKARTA, March 15, 2025 - The Embassy of India, Jakarta,in collaboration with India Club, Jakarta, one of the biggest Indian diaspora community association in Indonesia, organized the Holi Festival on Saturday (03/15/2025) at Buperta Cibubur Park, Jakarta . The event was attended by a good number of Indian community members, person of Indian origins, local well-wishers and diplomats. The excitement of this celebration showcased hundreds of cheerful participants following the series of events with full of Rang.
The Ambassador of India to Indonesia, Shri Sandeep Chakravorty, attended the event and expressed his appreciation to India Club Jakarta for organizing the biggest Holi celebration in Jakarta. “Holi is a very inclusive festival, where we share happiness, colors, food and togetherness with everyone,” Ambassador Sandeep said in his speech. He added that “We are happy to see many Indonesian friends and ambassadors from various countries joining the celebration” .
There were several Ambassadors who attended the event, including the Ambassadors from Italy, Sweden, Argentina and Iranian alongwith family. In addition, a number of other diplomats were also present to enliven this year's Holi festival.
As is known, the Holi Festival is known as a festival to welcome spring that is festive and colored by happiness. This Hindu festival signifies the victory of good over evil and is a celebration of love and unity. Currently, this colorful festival has become a tradition followed by communities around the world.
Apart from playing with Gulal and water, the Holi festival is also liven up by dancing, singing and Indian food. There are several popular dishes that are served during this celebration, including gujiya, thandai and jalebi.
Ambassador Sandeep expressed his happiness at being able to celebrate Holi with the people of Indonesia. “Let us keep the spirit of Holi and make it a part of our togetherness,” he concluded.
