India Culture Week - Indian Food Festival commences at Hotel Savoy Bandung

(30 December 2017 – 5 January 2018)

 

Embassy of India Jakarta and Regional Government of Bandung organized Indian Food Festival in Bandung beginning 30 December 2017.  The Indian Food Festival is part of the India Culture Week planned to be celebrated over 30 December 2017 to 5 January 2018.

 

 

Ambassador of India to Indonesia H.E. Mr Pradeep Kumar Rawat and the Mayor of Bandung H.E. Mr Ridwan Kamil jointly inaugurated the Indian Food Festival at the Garden Restaurant of Hotel Savoy, Bandung on 30 December 2017.

 

The Mayor of Bandung emphasized that culinary diplomacy was one of the best means to enhance interaction among the regions.  Ambassador expressed appreciation to the Government of Bandung for their support and welcomed the participants to enjoy the Indian culinary delicacies.  Ambassador hoped that the Bandung people would enjoy the Indian delicacies during the Indian Food Festival in large numbers. An Indian chef along with the chefs from Savoy prepared the Indian delicacies.

 

The Indian Food Festival was attended by more than 100 food lovers, who also witnessed live Indian musical performances.  The Indian Food Festival would remain open to general public till 5 January 2018 daily from 1200 - 1400 hrs at Hotel Savoy Bandung.

 

It may be noted that apart from Indian Food Festival, the India Culture Week celebrations included Visit India Tourism Seminar at Hotel Savoy, Indian Film Festival at De Majestic Theatre, Photo Exhibition on India-Indonesia friendship at recently opened Bandung Creative Hub. There will be grand Indian cultural event with Bollywood performances on the eve of New Year.  While the Tourism Seminar and the cultural event conclude the same day, the Indian Food Festival, Indian Film Festival and the Photo Exhibition on India-Indonesia friendship would continue till 5 January 2018.

 

It is expected that with this series of events under India Culture Week, a better appreciation of Indian art, culture and tourism would develop in the minds of Bandung people.
