Bandung Walkathon - Keeping the Bandung Spirit Alive
India and Indonesia are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2024, marking a significant milestone in their long-standing partnership. This milestone is a testament to India and Indonesia's enduring friendship and cooperation, reflecting their shared values and mutual interests in regional and global stability.
2. In addition to the historical, political, economic, and security relations, cultural exchanges have been a cornerstone of bilateral relationship. Throughout the year, 75th anniversary celebrations commemorated International Day of Yoga, Independence Walk, India Indonesia Golf Tournament, traditional dance performances by Indian troupes in major cities across Indonesia.
3. Continuing the momentum, the Embassy of India with support from the Federation of Indian Associations in Indonesia, and Bharat Klub Bandung, organized a 15 km walkathon in Bandung with the theme of “Keeping Bandung Spirit Alive”. This historic event was attended by almost 250 Indonesians and Indians from Jakarta and Bandung. Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty warmly welcomed Dr. Ismail, Director General, Ministry of Communication and Information and Mayor Dadang Supriatna and highlighted the significance of Bandung Conference as well as the deep rooted cultural ties between the two countries which laid foundation for multifaceted cooperation in modern times.

Dr. Ismail, while referring to the Bandung Conference, also mentioned about the historical ties between the two great nations and emphasized on the future potential between the two countries in ICT, 5G deployment, space technology, and digital infrastructure areas. More pro-business engagements between the two nations shall be encouraged, said Dr. Ismail.
5. The occasion was also marked by donation to support “Limb The Limbless” organization. Indian community and friends of India in Jakarta and Bandung were instrumental in making the event a success.
