India Culture Week : Bollywood Dance and Cultural Performance

The Embassy of India in association with the City Government of Bandung organized Bollywood Dance and Cultural Performance on the eve of New Year Day on Jalan Braga in front of Asia-Africa Conference Museum. The program was inaugurated jointly by H.E. Pradeep Kumar Rawat, Ambassador of India, Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil and his spouse, Ms. Atalia Kamil. In his address Mayor Ridwan Kamil said that Bandung is happiest city in Indonesia. He thanked Ambassador for cooperating in organizing the event and said he looked forward to cooperation with India in trade and commerce as well. Ambassador thanked Mayor Kamil for choosing India as partner for the first culture program that will be held every year and feature a foreign mission as partner country.

 

 

The cultural performances consisted of Dance, Music and Artistic Yoga presentations.Jabang Tutuka and Bandung Bolly Club started the event with their performances with energetic presentation of BALI SUGRIVA dance from Ramayana in traditional Sundanese dance form followed by Popular Bollywood dance and singing. JNICC artists presented entertaining performances for non-stop two hours. The dance performances from Rani Bhara Club led by Ibu Rani Elly, popular Bollywood songs by young Fardeen Hasan and outstanding rendition of Sufi music by Ustad Shakhawat Hussain Khan with JNICC Music Teacher Shabbir Hasan accompanying him on tabla, regaled the huge audience of more than 3000 on the new year eve.

 

Ambassador, Mayor and his spouse also did the honors of selecting 10 Lucky winners of Bumper Prizes presented by Embassy of India through Lucky Draw and quiz. The Bumper Prizes included two Return Tickets to India by Jet Airways, All expenses paid tourist packages by Top tours and travels, Complete Medical Checkup Vouchers at Apollo Hospitals in India and many more.

 

It may be noted that apart from Bollywood Dance and Cultural Performance, the India Culture Week celebrations included Visit India Tourism Seminar, Indian Food Festival at Hotel Savoy, Indian Film Festival at De Majestic Theatre and Photo Exhibition on India-Indonesia friendship at recently opened Bandung Creative Hub. While the Tourism Seminar and the cultural event concluded the same day, the Indian Food Festival, Indian Film Festival and the Photo Exhibition on India-Indonesia friendship would continue till 5 January 2018.

 

It is expected that with this series of events under India Culture Week, a better appreciation of Indian art, culture and tourism would develop in the minds of Bandung people.
