Wishing everyone Ramadan Mubarak!

On Friday, 22 March 2024, "Buka Puasa Bersama"  was organized at Nahdlathul Ulama (NU) headquarters in Jakarta. The event was co-hosted by the Embassy of India and NU.
Among the prominent guests were H.E. Mr. Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Republic of Indonesia, select Ambassadors, senior government officials, and friends of India.

2. Speaking during the occasion, Ambassador of India to Indonesia, Mr. Sandeep Chakravorty extended Ramadan greetings to all. He mentioned that both India and Indonesia
are two major democracies of the world with largest Muslim population with millennia old historical and cultural linkages. This year’s joint Iftar is special because it is being held during
the 75 th years of diplomatic relations, which marks the growing warmth and deepening of engagement between India and Indonesia. Indian Embassy has initiated a series of events to commemorate the occasion. He also invited NU to be part of the year long celebrations. Mentioning about the " Ashoka Approach"  of NU, Ambassador said that it is very relevant as it reinforces religious syncretism and pluralism among the South Asian and South East Asian countries.

3. H.E. Gus Ulil Abshar Abdalla, Head of Religion Board of Nahdlathul Ulama remarked that both countries share common heritage and civilizational linkages which are rooted in pluralistic values and diversity. These shared values have evolved into a new dimension in the current era where both countries can work together to spread and advance the cause of humanity and brotherhood.

4. The guests enjoyed sumptuous Indian cuisines and sweets. Embassy of India's partnership with Nahdlathul Ulama is indeed a testament to growing ties between the two democratic countries of India and Indonesia which stand for peace, harmony and universal brotherhood.
